Seven Years in Crete: What Construction, People, and Life in Greece Taught Me
Seven years ago, I moved to Crete with my wife and three daughters. At the time, I didn’t imagine this island would become a true home for our family, and construction in Greece—my life’s work.
First Steps and Main Lessons
Over these years, I realized that the hardest part is not buying land or getting a building permit. The hardest part is assembling a team that approaches its work with equal responsibility every single day.
My first projects were a real learning curve. I faced delayed deadlines, poor coordination among contractors, and varying attitudes toward discipline. At the same time, I want to emphasize that Greece is home to a vast number of wonderful people and true professionals. I hold deep respect for the Greek engineers, architects, and many builders I continue to work with.
However, construction demands a special approach. Discipline, responsibility, and keeping promises are crucial here. That is why, after several projects, I changed the management system and put together an international team focused on professionalism, respect for the client, and a commitment to delivering quality work on schedule.
That is how the approach behind AILIT Group today came to be.
Completed Projects and Working Standards
Our completed projects speak for themselves. One of the most significant for me was Villa Omorfi, where our construction management principles fully took shape. Subsequently, Villa Pirolika and the Harmony Apartments residential complex in Almyrida were successfully built. Every completed property stands as proof that a strong team and sound organization consistently deliver results.
Current Projects and Investor Support
Today, AILIT Group continues to grow. The company is constructing two apartment buildings in Chania, two premium villas, and starting work on two more apartment buildings in Athens. For me, every new project is an opportunity to apply the experience gathered over seven years of living and working in Greece.
